Yes, the boy wizard and his magical friends bowed down to a bunch of feisty guinea pig spies as the current US box office charts last weekend declared the Walt Disney's "G Force" gained the number one spot. "G-Force" is a 3D movie, which is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Although the cast were mere small-time rodents, the voice over cast consisted of Hollywood biggies like Nicolas Cage, Sam Rockwell, Tracy Morgan and Penelope Cruz. The film opened at $32.2 million and "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" came in too close with with an estimated $30 million. Harry Potter was number one last week and it was expected to still rule in its second week, but "G-Force" had enough force to stop the reign of the wizard boy at the tills.
It was indeed a tough act for "G-Force" to come out triumphant in the summer box office race, but it only proved that a combination of nifty 3D animation, a stellar voice over cast, Jerry Bruckheimer and Walt Disney brands are enough to convince moviegoers to flock at the cinemas. The Katherine Heigl starrer Ugly Truth came in third with 27 million. Below is the official trailer of "G-Force":
